Suffolk - Established to the north-east of Greater london, the rural county of Suffolk is part of the area of The UK known as East Anglia. The county has a land area of 1,466 square mls and has a population of about seven hundred and thirty thousand. The county is bordered by the counties of Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, the major town is Ipswich, and other significant towns are Lowestoft, Newmarket, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. The county is primarily flat and low-lying, in the northern part of the county you can find wetland areas which are within The Broads National Park. During the period 1889-1974 Suffolk was separated into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
