Suffolk Overview - Located to the north-east of The city of London, the rural county of Suffolk is part of the region of The United Kingdom generally known as East Anglia. Suffolk incorporates a land area of 1,466 square miles along with a population of about 0.73 million. The county of Suffolk is bordered by the counties of Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, Ipswich is the capital town, whilst additional significant towns include Lowestoft, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds. The county of Suffolk is mostly flat and low-lying, in the north of the county you will find wetland areas that are within The Broads National Park. During the period 1889-1974 the county was divided into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
