Suffolk - Situated to the north-east of The city of London, the rural county of Suffolk is within the area of Great Britain referred to as East Anglia. Suffolk has an area of 1,466 square miles and a population of around seven hundred and thirty thousand. The county touches the counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, the major town is Ipswich, while additional significant towns include Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Newmarket and Lowestoft. Suffolk is primarily flat and low-lying, in the northern part of the county you can find wetland areas that are part of The Broads National Park. During the period 1889-1974 Suffolk was separated into two administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
