Suffolk Overview - Found to the north-east of The city of London, the rural county of Suffolk is in the region of England known as East Anglia. The county has a land area of 1,466 sq mls along with a population of roughly 730,000. The county touches the neighbouring counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, Ipswich is the capital town, and other significant towns include Lowestoft, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Felixstowe and Bury Saint Edmunds. The county is primarily flat and low-lying, in the north of the county you'll find wetland areas which are within The Broads National Park. From 1889-1974 Suffolk was divided into two administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
