Suffolk Review - Positioned to the north-east of London, the county of Suffolk is within the area of Great Britain referred to as East Anglia. The county has an area of 1,466 sq mls and a population of about seven hundred and thirty thousand. Suffolk is bordered by the counties of Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, Ipswich is the major town, and other significant towns include Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Felixstowe and Lowestoft. The county is generally low-lying and flat, in the north of the county there are wetland areas which are part of The Broads National Park. From 1889-1974 the county of Suffolk was divided into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
