Suffolk Overview - Found to the north-east of Greater london, the rural county of Suffolk is part of the area of The United Kingdom referred to as East Anglia. The county of Suffolk incorporates an area of 1,466 sq mls plus a population of approximately 0.73 million. The county is bordered by the counties of Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, Ipswich is the county town, whilst additional important towns include Lowestoft, Stowmarket, Felixstowe, Newmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. From 1889-1974 the county was divided into 2 administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
