Suffolk - Based to the north-east of Greater london, the rural county of Suffolk is within the region of England generally known as East Anglia. The county of Suffolk has an area of 1,466 square miles along with a population of roughly 730,000. The county is bordered by the counties of Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, Ipswich is the capital town, and other significant towns include Lowestoft, Stowmarket, Newmarket, Felixstowe and Bury St Edmunds. The county of Suffolk is mainly low-lying and flat, in the north of the county there are wetland areas which are part of The Broads. From 1889-1974 the county was separated into 2 administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
