Suffolk UK - Based to the north-east of The city of London, the rural county of Suffolk is part of the area of The UK known as East Anglia. The county of Suffolk has a land area of 1,466 sq mls and has a population of roughly 730,000. The county of Suffolk is bounded by the neighbouring counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, Ipswich is the major town, and other major towns include Lowestoft, Felixstowe, Newmarket, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds. During the period 1889-1974 the county of Suffolk was split into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
