Suffolk Overview - Set to the north-east of London, the county of Suffolk is in the area of Great Britain generally known as East Anglia. Suffolk incorporates a land area of 1,466 sq miles and a population of roughly 0.73 million. The county is bordered by the neighbouring counties of Cambridgeshire, Essex and Norfolk, Ipswich is the capital town, and other significant towns include Lowestoft, Newmarket, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. The county is largely low-lying and flat, you'll find wetland areas in the north of the county that are within The Broads National Park. From 1889-1974 Suffolk was separated into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
