Suffolk England - Positioned to the north-east of London, the rural county of Suffolk is in the area of The United Kingdom referred to as East Anglia. The county incorporates a land area of 1,466 sq mls plus a population of about 730,000. The county of Suffolk borders the counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, the county town is Ipswich, whilst additional significant towns include Lowestoft, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Felixstowe and Bury St Edmunds. Suffolk is mostly flat and low-lying, in the north of the county there are wetland areas which are within The Broads. During the period 1889-1974 Suffolk was split into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
