Suffolk East Anglia - Established to the north-east of Greater london, the rural county of Suffolk is within the region of The United Kingdom called East Anglia. The county has a land area of 1,466 square mls and has a population of around 730,000. The county is bordered by the neighbouring counties of Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, the major town is Ipswich, while additional significant towns are Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Felixstowe and Lowestoft. The county is largely flat and low-lying, in the northern part of the county there are wetland areas that are within The Broads. During the period 1889-1974 Suffolk was divided into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
