Suffolk Overview - Found to the north-east of The city of London, the county of Suffolk is within the region of The UK referred to as East Anglia. Suffolk has an area of 1,466 sq mls and has a population of about seven hundred and thirty thousand. The county of Suffolk is bounded by the neighbouring counties of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Essex, Ipswich is the major town, whilst additional major towns are Lowestoft, Stowmarket, Felixstowe, Newmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. The county is mostly flat and low-lying, in the north of the county there are wetland areas that are part of The Broads National Park. During the period 1889-1974 Suffolk was split into 2 administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
