Suffolk - Set to the north-east of Greater london, the rural county of Suffolk is part of the area of The United Kingdom known as East Anglia. Suffolk has a land area of 1,466 square miles and has a population of approximately 0.73 million. The county borders the counties of Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, the capital town is Ipswich, whilst other vital towns include Lowestoft, Newmarket, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. The county is largely low-lying and flat, there are wetland areas in the northern part of the county that are part of The Broads. From 1889-1974 the county was divided into two administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
